JUNE 2010 - For the 2010 edition of Families in Philanthropy, the center Les Pensières, a property of the family Merieux’s foundation, will be hosting individual donors and families of philanthropists represented over several generations. At this year’s gathering, the focus will be on the impact of engagements, giving in family, as well as the personal engagement in philanthropic projects.
The first meeting of Families in Philanthropy in 2009 was very appreciated. “Learning about the experiences of the other families and donors was very enriching” affirms one of the participants. Among the interactive workshops throughout the weekend we can highlight the intervention of Joachim Schwass, professor at IMD in Lausanne. His module around the topic of succession in families gave rise to animated discussions between the different generations and led to new reflections.
The enthusiasm expressed by donors around this exclusive platform led wise to organise for the second consecutive time this gathering of Families in Philanthropy which will be held on the 7-8 October 2010.
On the shore of the Annecy lake, the center Les Pensières provides an ideal environment for reflection and discussion. Throughout these two days participants will alternate between informal time for exchange and interactive workshops addressing the issues at stake in philanthropy, moderated by Etienne Eichenberger and Maurice Machenbaum, co-founders of wise.
“The value of this meeting is not only that it gathers donors and families engaged who each bring different experiences, but above all the presence of several generations within families of philanthropists who can share their different point of views”, remarks Jessie Johnsson, responsible for Families in Philanthropy. Through these unique perspectives and privileged exchanges, donors get to know each other from a new angle and create bonds around shared values.
