Switzerland: Integration of poor children and adolescents

Objective: children from diverse backgrounds (both migrants and from Geneva, with a majority of poor children) regularly participate in creative activities, individually and as a group, that favour their integration.
Impact: • the risks of rupture and alienation of participants are diminished/prevented • the parent-child bond is strengthened • children are better directed within the social network • the organisation benefits from greater visibility • the programme grows more professional and trains future professionals

Vietnam: Hospitality training for disadvantaged young people

Objective: Integrate disadvantaged young people into the job market in Vietnam, through a professional hospitality training programme and a placement into stable employment
Impact: • the skills of disadvantaged young people are proven • the school’s model is effective and can be replicated • the young people have the opportunity to durably leave the vicious cycle of poverty • the provinces benefit from qualified staff, favouring their development

Colombia: A quality end of life for the elderly with the support of underprivileged children

Objective: The elderly are guaranteed a respectful and quality environment and are assisted by a group of underprivileged young people, who are in turn supported by the same institution.
Impact: • a way of life adapted to the elderly is provided • families are made aware of the importance of taking care of their elders to avoid having them institutionalised and placed in residential care • the young people are trained to promote respect towards the elderly in their neighbourhoods and are supported in their personal development and academics

Tanzanie: Access to economic independence for girls

Objective: Girls and young women in the rural Iringa and Kilolo districts have better access to quality education and reach economic independence to better support their families and communities.
Impact: • Retention in school reduces girls’ vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, early pregnancy and labour exploitation • Secondary education helps reduce girls’ poverty through the creation of effective income generating activities • Educated and empowered young women support access to education for the next generation and bring services to their communities • Rural communities see benefits and are committed to promoting girls’ involvement in secondary education.
